OVERLAND TO GEORGETOWN

NIGHT RESORT / 5 NIGHTS + 6 DAYS TOUR / 1 NIGHTS RESORT

DAY 1 - You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for your first night.

DAY 2 - We travel to the port of Banjul where we cross to the north bank of the country on the ferry with the locals, quite an experience in itself. We proceed by road the 300kms up river to the old Colonial encampment - Georgetown, stopping to visit local villages en-route. We arrive at our overnight accommodation in time to freshen up for dinner. Dinner will be enjoyed while we are entertained by local cultural dancers.

DAY 3 - After breakfast there is a guided tour around Georgetown visiting the main sites and attractions including old Colonial buildings and slave dungeons of a bygone era. Time to relax after lunch and enjoy the sights around your accommodation then dinner.

DAY 4 - An early breakfast before we commence our road journey back down the South Bank of the river and onto TENDABA CAMP arriving mid afternoon. Tendaba Camp is ideally situated on the banks of the River Gambia and is very popular with guests visiting The upper regions of the Gambia. Accommodation is basic but adequate being typical of accommodation available outside of the main tourist areas. Facilities include en-suite rooms and the camp has a small swimming pool.

Bintang BolongDAY 5 - Optional guided walk around the local area or boat tour before lunch. After lunch we are back in our vehicles continuing along the South Bank route of the river to the wonderful BINTANG BOLONG for our two night stay. After booking into our Water Bungalows there is time to relax and freshen up before Dinner is served. After Dinner we take a moonlit walk into the village where the locals will be happy to entertain us with there cultural dancing and drumming.

DAY 6 - After breakfast we take a guided tour of the village which may be taken on horse and cart. There are many things to see including the schools, village garden, women's project and many people to meet including the Imam (Holy Man) and Alkarlo (village chief) as well as other village elders. The villages will be carrying on their usual day to day asks and this is not a "Staged" village tour but a close look at the real life of the Gambian people in their natural village. We return to our Lodge for Lunch after which there is time to relax, maybe take a swim in The Bolong. Later in the afternoon we board out typical African Boat (Piroque) and enjoy a wonderfully relaxing boat tour on this, Gambia's widest Bolong.
DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT BINTANG BOLONG.

DAY 7 - Optional excursions available in the morning or just sit on your verandah over looking the Bolong and enjoy the wonderfully tranquil atmosphere. After lunch we are back in our vehicles for the final leg of our journey back to the coastal resort area and our Hotel arriving at approx 7pm.

The local marketDAY 8 - Your guide will be available to escort you around the local market to buy any items you wish to take home with you. Time to buy any last minute bargains before your transport collects you to take you to the airport for your return journey home.
