Mbollet Village Tour!
As part of the Glove project http://gloveproject.org/ we can arrange a full day visit to Sam MBOLLET village.
There are between 600 - 700 people living in the village of Sam MBOLLET, many of them children. The villagers here represent four different tribes of the Gambia all living harmoniously together: the Fula, Manjago, Bambara and Sere. The last three are very rare so this is our chance to help stop them being wiped out of the Gambia completely: an opportunity indeed to preserve this rare culture. Very little money enters Sam MBOLLET. A few village members have managed to secure employment in the tourist areas and give the majority of their meagre wages (£15 - £20 per month) to their families in order to purchase rice, oil and other essential commodities needed for survival.
Visitors are welcome in SAM MBOLLET. The ladies of the village will cook and arrange a display of dancing for you. Please note that these visits can only be arranged through Tilly's Tours and that all costs for these tours, less fuel, will go directly to the villagers for costs incurred, with any funding left going into GLOVE for expenditure against the ongoing projects.
If a visit is something that you can find the time to do whilst in the Gambia, you will not be disappointed and the memory of the warmth and hospitality you experience will stay with you for many years.
Visitors to The Gambia often ask if there is anything they can bring: the answer is a resounding ‘YES’! Most things are more than acceptable, for example vegetable/plant seeds, basic first aid items, rain wear, baby/children/adult clothing (jeans; T Shirts; dresses) and shoes, blankets, toys (dolls/cars/skipping ropes/balls etc), books, pencils, crayons, torches, gardening tools, underwear (nothing fancy), scissors etc, basically anything light that can be carried easily would be very welcome. We are sure you can think of a whole lot more – the sky is the limit. If there are items that you would like to bring but are not sure about, check they can be brought into the country through the standard Customs route but any advice on actual requirements at the time of your visit can be obtained through Tilly's Tours.
PRICES : Full Day - £P.O.A pp incl lunch, maximum 6 people.
