HALF DAY TOURS
BANJUL - THE CAPITAL CITY;
Banjul, capital of The Gambia, the smallest country on the African continent, developed as a result of Britain's 19th century war against slave-trading. It was originally called Bathurst by the British Military but was re-named Banjul in 1965 when The Gambia achieved independence. The city is sited on an island and has, therefore, reached its limits. It is a thriving melting pot for nationalities from all over Africa. Some of the streets have been re-named but many are still named after British administrators and military men.
On this tour, you will experience the sights and sounds of this fascinating city which is a hive of activity.
There will be a visit to the Arch 22, the wonderful monument that marks the entrance to the City, with the opportunity of going to the top and sipping a cold drink whilst enjoying the views.
You will pass by the City's main hospital, the Royal Victoria Hospital, and see the Government Buildings, including the Courts of Justice, the State House (where President Jammeh lives) and the City Hall. There will be a visit to the City Mosque and the National Museum before moving to the vibrant and bustling Albert Market where you have the opportunity to barter for souvenirs before passing the ferry terminal on the way back to your hotels.

CAMEL SAFARI
You will be collected from your hotel about 9.30am and travel approximately forty minutes to the Camel Stables at Tanji. You will then meet Jane and her friendly camels. Jane will explain how the camels came to The Gambia and how they are looked after and, if you are lucky, Tito will show you how he enjoys a drink of coca cola!
We then saddle up for the Camel Trek along the lovely beach. You will be in seats either side of the camels and it is quite safe and great fun for all the family. On your return to the Stables, there will be time for a drink at the shady bar before returning to the hotels about 1pm.
Price: £23.00 pp including camel trek
LAMIN LODGE
From your hotels, we take the 40-minute journey to this beautiful wooden Lodge which stands on stilts over the creek.
There will be time to explore before enjoying a one-hour boat trip in a dug-out canoe from which you will see numerous species of birds, as well as local woman collecting oysters from the creek in their tiny canoes. You may then have a drink in the restaurant and watch the monkeys playing happily on the roofs.
A wonderfully relaxing and tranquil experience at this great place.

CROCODILE POOL and CRAFT MARKET
We travel to the sacred crocodile pool of Katchikally to visit the "crocodile you can stroke" - Charlie is well known and has appeared on the holiday programme WISH YOU WERE HERE. There is ample time for photographic opportunities and to visit the informative cultural museum situated here. The local people say the waters of the pool have magical powers and being bathed in its waters is said to aide fertility. We leave the crocodile pool and make a stop at the small local craft market and if time permits there will be a visit to the nearby Sea Rescue Centre which is sponsored by England.

QUAD BIKING - Beach and Bush 1hr, 2hr or 3hr Trips.
You will be collected from your hotels and transported to the base where you will be instructed on the safe use and handling of these vehicles before setting off.
You will be accompanied on your Quad Bike Safari by two guides, one at the front and one at the rear. Your route will depend on the duration of your safari but will certainly start off along the beautiful beach before heading in land at GHANA TOWN FISHING VILLAGE. You will see local villages, locals working and playing as you go. The longer trips will include a stop at a village to either see the school or a clinic as well as other interesting aspects of village life. As you drive by you will be greeted by shouts and greetings from the local children.
